KUALA LUMPUR: Two young men dressed in cosplay tactical costumes have been arrested for having fake firearms and grenades at a shopping mall in Damansara Jaya here yesterday.
Police said the two, aged 15 and 24, were carrying imitations of an M4 carbine, a Glock pistol and two hand grenades.
Cosplay is the practice of dressing up as a character from a film, book, or video game.
Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said they had been remanded until Tuesday for investigations.
He reminded the public that the purchase or possession of fake firearms is an offence under the Arms Act.
“Those with information regarding illegal activities happening around Petaling Jaya may contact the Petaling Jaya Police Hotline at 03-7966 2222 or any nearby police station,” he said.
