Ismail filed the suit against Lokman last Thursday over a video titled “Bila Presiden Umno panggil Tak Datang! Tapi PM Ada Masa Jumpa Mahathir – Lokman Adm”.
Lawyer Joshua Tan said judicial commissioner Roz Mawar Rozain granted the injunction today.
Joshua, who appeared with Ragunath Kesavan, said Lokman must comply with the order immediately after receiving the court papers.
He said the court has fixed an inter partes hearing on Sept 26 at 3pm.
In his statement of claim filed by Messrs Kesavan, Ismail said Lokman uploaded the video on his TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook accounts on Aug 22, which he contended was defamatory, untrue and malicious.
Lokman, among others, claimed that Ismail had met former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and leaders of other political parties opposed to Umno in order to remain as prime minister and sideline the interest of his own party, Umno.
He claimed that Ismail had offered to appoint Mukhriz Mahathir as deputy prime minister in return for Mahathir’s support.
Lokman alleged that Ismail abused his power to stop the prosecution of former Bank Negara Malaysia governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz and fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho.
He also alleged that Ismail had interfered to ensure that former prime minister Najib Razak was convicted and jailed.
Ismail said the allegations in the video lowered his reputation among Umno members and had caused mental and emotional stress to him.
He said a letter of demand was sent to Lokman on Aug 25 to remove the video but he refused to do so and also declined to offer an apology.
Ismail is seeking damages and other reliefs deemed fit by the court.
On Sept 1, Lokman, 49, was also charged in the sessions court with two counts of making and initiating the transmission of offensive communications against Ismail and the government.
He pleaded not guilty to both the charges, allegedly made through Facebook using the profile name “Lokman Noor Adam Official” with the intention of annoying others.
The first charge involved a post against the prime minister, which was allegedly committed at 11.16pm last Aug 20.
The post was read at 8.15am on Aug 24 at Mutiara Villa in Jalan Tung Shin, Bukit Bintang here.
On the second charge, which involves a post against the government, Lokman was alleged to have committed the offence at 10.28pm last Aug 22. The post was read at 11.30am the following day at a restaurant in Jalan Sentul here.
The charges, framed under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and punishable under Section 233(3) of the same law, provides a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to one year, and a further fine of RM1,000 for each day the offence continues after conviction.
