Headmistress held for buying supplies from own companies

The 58-year-old woman is alleged to have bought school supplies through her companies, which were registered under her two sons.

The headmistress was arrested at the MACC office after giving her statement and was released on bail.

The headmistress of a special needs school in Sungai Petani has been arrested for alleged abuse of position by purchasing school supplies through her two companies from 2019 to 2021.

A source in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Kedah said the 58-year-old woman was detained at the Sungai Petani MACC office after giving her statement.

“The two companies were registered under the names of her two sons, aged 33 and 31. The estimated value of the supplies involved is RM22,646,” the source said here today.

The woman has been released on MACC bail of RM10,000 as she has to look after her ailing husband at home.

Kedah MACC director Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap confirmed the arrest and said the case was being investigated.
