Following an Umno leader’s claim that no invites were sent, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said that online invitations were sent to the three parties and were also delivered in person to the presidents of these parties before Aug 20.

“I’m a lawyer by training and I have evidence. I can show you the invitations that I sent to Umno,” he said.

“It is okay if they don’t want to come.

“Our invite goes to show that we are (serious about) the country’s political stability,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the muktamar.

Kedah Umno chief Jamil Khir Baharom yesterday denied receiving the invite while the central Umno leadership had yet to comment on the issue.

In response to Jamil’s claim, Takiyuddin said the invite was not sent by his office but through the Kedah PAS chapter.
