Stop bickering, focus on GE15, Hadi tells PAS

Party president Abdul Hadi Awang calls for unity ahead of the next general election.

Abdul Hadi Awang told PAS members to focus on the polls instead of differences of opinions, in his speech at the muktamar today
ALOR SETAR:
PAS members must remain obedient and loyal to the party’s leadership, regardless of any differences in opinion, says its president Abdul Hadi Awang.

He added that as the party headed for the next general election (GE15), it was key that all members were united and focused on the polls, by avoiding any internal bickering.

“Differences in opinion are normal, but we must be civil about it,” he said when opening the party’s muktamar (annual general assembly) here.

“We must remain loyal and wala’ (obedient) to party decisions and leadership, through thick and thin, as long as it is according to syarak,” he added.

Hadi said PAS was also open to talks with “sincere” parties aiming to return to the Islamic fold and stressed it would not cooperate with those involved in “sinful matters”.

“If the person has committed a sin and repented, then they can be pardoned.

“However, PAS will not turn a blind eye to evils such as corruption, money politics, rent-seeking politics, misbehaviour, and mismanagement… (as well as) celebrating evils to the extent of abandoning principles,” he said.
