The Form Two SMK Taman Melawati student appeared to have had a premonition of a family trip by road gone wrong as revealed from his essay in an exam last Wednesday.

In the Malay essay, Danial wrote about his family having car trouble on the road.

The essay contained details including “my family called for a towing service”, “the car is a total loss” and “a car hit our car from behind”.

Most notably, he wrote: “… and we sat at the rest area from 6pm until 3am. I was bored of waiting for the towing service to pick us up.”

On Saturday, Danial and his grandparents, Mohamed Samsudin, 75, and Kamariah Hamzah, 72, were killed when a lorry swerved into the emergency lane on the East Coast Expressway and hit a tow truck that was towing a car the family was in.

The MPV that was carrying seven others onboard was thrown into a 20m-deep ravine.

The accident happened at 3.10am.

Tow truck driver Mohd Azuan Zainal Abidin, 53, was also killed in the accident.

It is learned that on the night of the incident, Danial’s teacher was marking the students’ essays, including his paper.

Upon learning about the tragedy the next day, the teacher rechecked his work and was stunned to discover its contents.

Danial’s aunt, Azlina Mohamad, told FMT she was speechless about the details in his essay.

“Arwah’s (Danial’s) essay floored me. I don’t know what I can say about it,” said the 44-year-old administrative assistant.

A screenshot of the 159-word essay was shared by Danial’s uncle on Facebook.

Azreen Mohamad wrote on Monday: “Received a screenshot of my deceased nephew’s essay as if foretelling the things that happened before the crash. Perhaps it is a coincidence that the contents of the essay are similar to reality. I hope heaven is the place for you dear Danial Danish.”

Danial’s mother, brother and three cousins are in the intensive care unit of Hospital Temerloh.
