Lokman to be charged tomorrow for uploading offensive videos on FB

The videos are believed to contain offensive remarks about the government and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Former Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam will be charged with misuse of network facilities concerning two separate videos posted on his Facebook page.

Former Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam will be charged in the Kuala Lumpur cybercrime sessions court tomorrow morning for uploading offensive videos on his Facebook page.

In a statement, Bukit Aman said Lokman will be charged under Section 233(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for misuse of network facilities concerning two separate videos posted on Facebook.

The videos are believed to contain offensive remarks about the government and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The charges under Section 233(1) of the CMA provide for a maximum fine of RM50,000 or a jail term not exceeding one year, or both, if convicted.

The investigation into Lokman’s videos was conducted by Bukit Aman’s D5 classified criminal investigation unit.
