Amanah reports Zahid for alleged insult of judiciary

Amanah official Sany Hamzan said the Umno president had also insulted the Attorney-General's Chambers, MACC and the King.

PETALING JAYA:
An Amanah official has filed a police report against Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for allegedly insulting and slandering the judiciary while addressing an Umno special meeting on Saturday.

Amanah mobilisation director Sany Hamzan said Zahid had insulted the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in his speech.

Zahid’s remarks involved the Federal Court’s decision to uphold Najib Razak’s conviction and sentence in the SRC International case last week.

Sany, who is a Selangor state assemblyman, said the police report was filed against Zahid, several others who also spoke at the event, those who organised the event and those responsible for posting the speech online, according to Harian Metro.

Separately, Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir of PKR filed a police report against special functions minister Abd Latiff Ahmad over his alleged links to the littoral combat ship (LCS) project.

Dang Wangi police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya confirmed to Harian Metro both reports had been received.

Amanah’s report had been referred to the classified criminal investigation unit at Bukit Aman. “The other report related to the LCS audit report was referred to the Damansara police for further investigation,” he said.
