
Met by reporters at the High Court here before Najib’s 1MDB trial resumed in the afternoon, Shafee also accused the media of false reporting when asked about his client.
“I can’t say anything… I’m not going to say anything because you twist and turn our words, even in the court.
“Go and find out yourself,” he said when asked about Najib.
Najib is facing four charges of using his position as then prime minister to obtain bribes totalling RM2.3 billion from 1MDB funds, and 21 charges of money laundering involving the same amount.
Last night, Najib’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, said the Pekan MP was in good spirits despite being sent to Kajang Prison on Tuesday after the Federal Court upheld his conviction and sentence of 12 years’ jail and RM210 million fine in the SRC International case.
“I am sure that many had been waiting to know the latest update on Bossku,” she said in an Instagram post.
“Today, a representative from his legal team managed to meet with daddy in Kajang Prison. Alhamdulillah, daddy is still in good health, and he is also still in strong spirits.”
On Tuesday, a five-member Federal Court bench led by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat dismissed his appeal to set aside the conviction and sentence imposed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 28, 2020.
The Court of Appeal upheld the High Court’s decision on Dec 8, 2021.
