PUTRAJAYA:
Civil servants can expect some “good news” from the government on Aug 30, says Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Speaking at the Keluarga Malaysia Simposium event here, he said the government plans to show its appreciation to civil servants for their sacrifices to the country.

“When the country was going through hardship, agencies such as the police, army, firemen, social welfare department, the National Disaster Management Agency, and others worked hard and with dedication.

“The government always appreciates their efforts under the leadership of the chief secretary to the government, Zuki Ali,” he added.

Ismail said the government also appreciated non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for their contributions to the country.

As for the country’s achievements under his leadership, he stressed that he didn’t want to brag but would let the facts speak for themselves.

Ismail’s announcement comes in the wake of a recent request by Cuepacs for Putrajaya to raise the salaries of civil servants before Parliament is dissolved.

Cuepacs made the request after its proposals to raise salaries of those in the Grade 19 and Grade 29 categories were allegedly ignored by the Public Service Department (JPA).

However, Ismail didn’t divulge if the “good news” was related to a salary raise.
