He also blamed apathy among Malay voters for causing non-Malays and “liberals” to gain control of the country’s political power in the last general election.
This included abstaining from voting, he said in a convention speech reported by Utusan Malaysia.
Hadi also wrote a Facebook posting that put the focus on non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras as being the majority involved in corruption.

Hadi said corruption stemmed from those who reaped profit through illegal means.
“In fact the majority of those involved in ruining the country’s politics and economy, were non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras,” he said.
It had reached a point that “these people” ended up controlling the country’s economy and using their money to taint politics, the administration and judiciary, he said.
Earlier, in his convention speech warning Muslims not to be apathetic about voting, he said that non-Muslims never disregarded politics, even if they were working in “the jungles of Sabah and Sarawak” or overseas.
“Non-Muslims would return willingly to their hometown to vote, unlike Muslims, who do not want to take part in the electoral process which ultimately led to political power being snatched by others,” he said.
In 2018, Pakatan Harapan – led by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, then with Bersatu – toppled Barisan Nasional which had been in power for 61 years in the 14th general election.
Hadi went on to say that it has become PAS’ responsibility to raise awareness among Malays about the importance of taking part in the country’s politics.
He said there was nothing “dirty” about politics, contrary to the claims of some, but added that it had been tainted by a few bad apples.
