King and Queen arrive in Ankara for state visit

Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah is scheduled to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Palace.

ANKARA:
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, arrived here yesterday for a seven-day visit to Turkey.

The King and Queen and their entourage were received by Turkey’s vice-president, Fuat Oktay, at the Esenboga International Airport.

Also present to welcome them were Malaysia’s ambassador to Turkey, Sazali Mustafa Kamal, and Turkey’s ambassador to Malaysia, Emir Salim Yuksel.

The royal couple then inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by the 4th Army Corps and Garrison Commander of Ankara.

Sultan Abdullah is scheduled to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Palace. The King and Queen will also attend a state banquet hosted by Erdogan and his wife. Emine Erdogan, at the same venue.

Sultan Abdullah is also scheduled to visit defence company FNSS Defence Systems and Turkish Aerospace Industries, while Tunku Hajah Azizah will visit the Goreme Museum in Cappadocia and the Ankara Advance Technical Institute for Girls.

They will leave for Istanbul on Thursday where they will attend a dinner with members of the Malaysian diaspora.
