BN set on going solo at general election, says Tok Mat

But if BN fails to secure a majority, the coalition would be willing to seek an alliance and form a strong and stable government.

BN election director Mohamad Hasan says the election results will determine who BN needs to negotiate with for a strong government.
CHUKAI:
Barisan Nasional (BN) is sticking to its decision to contest the coming general election on its own, says the coalition’s deputy chairman, Mohamad Hasan.

He said the coalition would strive harder to win as many seats as possible so that it could form a government by itself after the elections.

However, should the election results turn out otherwise, BN was prepared to negotiate with other parties so that a strong and stable government could be set up for the people’s well-being, he said.

He said: “Even though people said we are going with this or that party, BN will still maintain its decision to go solo with the support of its coalition parties.

“We will see after the election if we win and can form a government by ourselves. If not, the results will determine who we need to negotiate with for a strong government,” he said after launching the Terengganu BN’s election machinery.

Mohamad, commonly known as Tok Mat, is also the BN election director.

“We do not want the people to continue being victims of political upheavals… it’s enough. It has been four years, we are still not aware of where we are going while countries more adversely affected by Covid-19 have leaped ahead because of political stability,” he said.

Mohamad said Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s application to join BN will be discussed at the BN Supreme Council meeting on Monday. “The matter has to be decided with a consensus. All parties have to unanimously agree,” he said.
