
“A probe has been initiated by the JPJD,” communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa said, referring to the personal data protection department.
Earlier today, iPay88 said the cybersecurity breach may have compromised the card data of users.
It said it had initiated a probe on May 31 with cybersecurity experts roped in to mitigate the issue.
The e-commerce firm said investigations were ongoing and that it was working closely with the authorities and other relevant parties over the security breach.
It did not specify when the security breach occurred.
The breach led to PKR’s Fahmi Fadzil pushing for amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
The Lembah Pantai MP also questioned why iPay88 had only released information on the data breach more than two months after the incident.
Two banking associations have since assured cardholders that their data is secure despite the cybersecurity breach experienced by iPay88.
