This comes after the High Court rejected the Warisan MP’s bid to transfer his power abuse case to a higher court.
High Court judge Jamil Hussin dismissed his application on grounds that the defence had failed to satisfy criteria under Section 417 of the Criminal Procedure Code for transferring cases.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Feisal Mohd Azmi appeared for the prosecution while Rafique Rashid Ali represented Rozman.
Rafique said another High Court will hear the defence’s bid to strike out Rozman’s charge under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act on Thursday.
Rozman was accused of using his position as an officer of a government agency or deputy chairman of the Labuan Port Authority to solicit bribes, namely to secure a contract as an operator of Dermaga Merdeka Pelabuhan Labuan for Syarikat Labuan Liberty Port Management Sdn Bhd, in which his father and younger brother have an interest in.
The offence was alleged to have been committed at the transport ministry in Putrajaya on March 21, 2018.
If found guilty, he faces a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the value of the gratification, or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
The sessions court previously fixed Aug 5, 11 and 12 for the hearing.
