
In view of this, he said the attorney-general should take cognisance of the Sungai Besar Umno chief’s “unwarranted attack” and act accordingly if he does not offer an apology to the court.
He said Jamal’s claim that the court did not comply with the established procedures was untrue and “an affront to the independence of the judiciary”.
“I take serious umbrage at Jamal’s spurious outburst against the KL High Court for its ruling against him.
“There is an opportunity for him to convey this in his intended appeal. Instead of doing that, he chose to spew unwarranted public slurs, knowing that judges can’t respond to criticism. It borders on serious contempt for the administration of justice.
“If he is dissatisfied, just say that you want to file an appeal against the decision.”
Nair said Kok would proceed with an action for libel against Jamal for his “outlandish and defamatory” accusation.
On Tuesday, judicial commissioner Arief Emran Arifin ordered Jamal to pay RM300,000 in damages to Kok.
Jamal had accused Kok of misappropriating Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) funds under the state government’s Skim Mesra Usia Emas initiative.
Jamal later said he would file an appeal against the court’s decision, insisting that the trial “did not comply with the established procedures”.
He cited the court’s ruling to dismiss his bid to inspect the state documents classified under the Official Secrets Act.
