Voting on anti-hopping bill this afternoon

The constitutional amendment bill needs two-thirds majority support to be approved.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The Dewan Rakyat will vote on the Constitutional (Amendment) Bill (No 3) 2022 on Provisions Preventing Members of Parliament from Switching Parties this afternoon.

Law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is expected to wind up the debate on the bill at 2.30pm.

The bill, which needs two-thirds majority support to be approved, was tabled by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday.

According to today’s order paper, the debate on the bill will continue for a second day after the question-and-answer session.

Forty-one MPs took part in the debate yesterday.
