Persatuan Harapan India Malaysia chairman M Mani Maran received 16 stitches at the hospital following the attack in Kajang.
In his police report, Mani alleged that the assailant – believed to be in his late 30s – was the same person who had approached him outside the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya after he lodged a report against a Cabinet member on July 22.
The Cabinet member is said to have been involved in false claims and misappropriation of funds from the PenjanaKerjaya hiring incentive programme.
“On July 22, I saw this man in a small group who protested against us for lodging the report. He approached me and we chatted briefly before I left,” he told FMT.
Recalling the attack, Mani said he just left a printing shop around 1.40pm in Kajang yesterday, when his attacker approached him and asked him about a certain individual.
When Mani refused to entertain him and walked away, the attacker took out a blade and slashed his neck before fleeing the scene.
“I have no idea how he knew where I was. I believe he stalked me for the past few days. I was actually going to the MACC office again to lodge a report against a politician who had just purchased a sports car,” he said.
FMT has contacted Kajang police for further details.
