The decision was made in this year’s first National Social Council meeting, chaired by Ismail, and attended by senior ministers, deputy ministers, as well as officers from relevant ministries and agencies.
“Each GFT will have at least seven members to coordinate and implement initiatives to achieve gender equality,” Ismail said in a statement.
He added that the passage of the Sexual Harassment Bill 2021 in the Dewan Rakyat on July 20 also proved the government’s commitment to dealing with sexual harassment.
Ismail also said a special team would be set up to provide a path for children who had graduated from welfare department (JKM) institutions to further their studies in academic and vocational skills.
“Those who are 18 years old are usually no longer supported by JKM, causing some of them to drop out.”
He said the relevant government-linked companies would be responsible for providing funds for education and lodging and also ensuring that career paths existed.
Ismail said the National Welfare Foundation would be a guarantor to help children who did not have documents, with the help of the national registration department.
