S Gobi Krishnan, information chief of Bersatu’s associate wing, claimed he was informed that Kiandee was in the process of extending the contract of a member of the fisheries development authority’s (LKIM) board of directors.
He claimed that the board member was from MIC, a component party of Barisan Nasional.
Gobi called on Kiandee to give an explanation on the matter, saying he hoped this was not true.
“If it is true, then the minister must be advised by the Bersatu leadership to change this decision. The Bersatu minister should be prioritising leaders from his own party for any GLC post.
“If this is not true, then I sincerely apologise and hope that a leader from Bersatu will be appointed to the post soon,” he said in a statement.
FMT has reached out to Kiandee for comment.
