Kok filed the suit against Jamal in 2017 after he accused her of misappropriating Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) funds under the state government’s Skim Mesra Usia Emas initiative.
Judicial commissioner Mohd Arief Emran Arifin also ordered Jamal, who was absent in court today, to pay RM50,000 in costs to Kok.
Speaking to the media later, Kok recounted the “torture” she went through when she was investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after Jamal lodged a report.
“They raided my office and took away all my files,” she said.
“My assistant and I were interrogated a few times, and we were forced to answer all sorts of questions.
“We had to go through all this torture just because Jamal lodged a report against me.”
Meanwhile, Kok’s lawyer SN Nair said Jamal had every avenue to defend himself, but had failed to do so.
In June, Jamal fired his lawyer and said he wished to represent himself, though he later tried to ask for the trial to be postponed so he could appoint a new lawyer.
However, Arief dismissed Jamal’s request, pointing out that the trial had been dragging on since 2017.
