Ong Ka Chuan denies receiving money from UKSB

The former minister and former MCA secretary-general said the allegations - made by a witness in the Ahmad Zahid Hamidi corruption trial - were baseless.

Former MCA secretary-general Ong Ka Chuan has denied receiving a political donation of RM920,000 as alleged by a witness in the Ahmad Zahid Hamidi corruption trial.

Ong, who is also a former minister of international trade and industry, said the allegation was “entirely baseless in nature”.

He said he was willing to cooperate with the authorities in their investigations and urged that all evidence and details about the matter be given to the authorities and made public.

Another former minister from MCA, Chan Kong Choy, was also alleged by the witness, David Tan, to have received RM7.8 million in political donation.

Tan, the former administrative manager of Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd is a prosecution witness in the trial of former home minister and deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on 33 charges of receiving bribes amounting to S$13.56 million (RM42 million) from the company.

The bribes were alleged to have been made in connection with a visa system operated by the company.

Earlier today, Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan denied receiving RM1.162 million from the company.
