Iskandar Malaysia records RM13b in investments in first half of 2022

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says this shows foreign investors still have confidence in Malaysia.

Besides drawing industries, the Iskandar Malaysia Modern Agriculture Plan would position the region as Malaysia’s Agrifood Hub.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Iskandar Malaysia has recorded investments of RM13 billion in the first half of this year (1H 2022).

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the investments proved that foreign investors were still confident about investing in Malaysia.

The prime minister today chaired the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (Irda) meeting together with Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Ismail said these foreign investments would create additional job opportunities.

“In total, more than 6,000 people in this region have received direct benefits from the socioeconomic initiatives that have been carried out,” he said.

Meanwhile, Irda is formulating the Modern Agriculture Strategy to strengthen the food security agenda.

This is in line with the government’s agenda to focus on food security.

The Iskandar Malaysia Modern Agriculture Plan is expected to position Irda as Malaysia’s Agrifood Hub.
