PETALING JAYA:
A group of NGOs have demanded that disciplinary action be taken against Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for his “outrageous” behaviour in the Dewan Rakyat.

The group, comprising the Joint Action Group for Gender Equality, Engender Consultancy and Young Women Making Change, accused the Umno man of uttering obscenities.

“We call on the Dewan Rakyat Speaker and deputy speaker to take strict disciplinary action against Tajuddin,” it said in a statement.

“Such shameful conduct has no place in Parliament, let alone while debating a bill which is intended to protect those facing sexual harassment.”

The group’s statement comes after Tajuddin’s outburst in the Dewan Rakyat after being called out for making sexist remarks.

During today’s debate on the sexual harassment bill, he claimed that Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching had tried to tarnish his image by naming him as one of the MPs that frequently made sexist remarks.

This led to a shouting match between Tajuddin and other Pakatan Harapan MPs. At one point, Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto accused Tajuddin of making a lewd remark after turning off his microphone.
