Shell Malaysia donated fertigation equipment which would help the 50-year-old increase his harvest and provide him with a more stable income.
Provops Sdn Bhd, a farming company, also made a cash contribution.
“I am even more determined to increase my produce,” he told FMT.
Azmi said he received numerous calls from the public who wanted to help after his plight was highlighted by FMT.
He said he felt hopeful for the future with the contributions he had received so far.
“I will be using it to buy the necessities for my wife, including milk.”
Earlier this month, FMT reported that Azmi was unable to work full-time as he had to take care of his wife, Hasnah Abu Hassan, 49, who had been bed-ridden since suffering a stroke.
Hasnah, whose right eye is kept open with a plaster, is also unable to move the right side of her body.
Azmi works part-time cleaning the mosque and also farms on vacant land owned by the Perak irrigation and drainage department.
The harvest is sold to cover the family’s expenses.
