PETALING JAYA:
Police arrested five more people to assist in investigations into a scam to sell haj packages involving two travel agencies.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said the five suspects – two men and three women aged between 28 and 51 – were remanded for three days from July 14 to July 16 before being handed over to Johor police.

He said once the probe was completed, the investigation papers would be handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.

Those with information on the case are urged to contact the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or the nearest police station.

Earlier this month, it was reported that 57 police reports had been lodged over the alleged scam, with the victims claiming losses amounting to over RM2.37 million.

According to reports, five suspects were nabbed on July 9, including the owner of a travel company, an agent and two employees.
