Selangor deputy police chief S Sasikala Devi Subramaniam said the suspect, in his 30s, was arrested at the Kuala Selangor district police station at 4.50pm yesterday.
The man was later remanded for five days until Saturday to assist in investigations under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
In a Berita Harian report, Sasikala said the remand order was issued by the Sungai Besar magistrates’ court.
She said police received a report on the matter from the teenager at 11.15pm last Saturday.
Investigations found that the victim had been acquainted with the suspect since May last year.
She said since getting to know each other, the teenager and the suspect had sexual relations on several occasions at different locations.
“We have opened four investigation papers so far, two in Selangor, one in Kuala Lumpur and another in Perak, all of which involved the same complainant.”
