Azalina Othman Said, who is also Pengerang MP, said a lot of work had gone into writing this law.
“It is a good start. I look forward to the second reading this Wednesday,” she said in a tweet after attending the long-awaited briefing held by the women, family and community development ministry.
Azalina, a vocal advocate of the sexual harassment bill, praised the ministry and other NGOs like the All-Women’s Action Society, Women’s Aid Organisation and the Women’s Centre for Change for their involvement in the bill.
The tabling of the sexual harassment bill has been postponed several times over the last two years.
In July 2021, women, family and community development minister Rina Harun said the bill would be tabled this year as it was in the final stages of being drafted.
