SHAH ALAM:
The High Court here freed a food store assistant on a charge of trafficking more than 1.8kg of methamphetamine at klia2 three years ago.

Judge Yazid Mustafa ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the Section 39B(1)(a) charge under the Dangerous Drugs Act against Lim Soon Huat.

He held there were “serious loopholes” in the prosecution’s case and it had failed to prove that Lim had custody and control of the luggage, containing 1.8kg of methamphetamine.

The court also said no evidence was presented during the trial as to who actually “checked-in” the luggage and placed the tag on it.

Lim, 45, was accused of trafficking methamphetamine on May 16, 2019 at the airport.

Subsequently, he was charged in court on May 29 of the same year.

Lim was represented by Hanif Hashim, Ivan Lee, Lee Swee Meng and Syaheera Rosli.
