“My father-in-law’s name is Subramaniam,” she said, in dismissing any connection to one “Arumugam” who is said to be her father-in-law. “That is not his account.”
This morning, FMT reported that Edward and her husband, Kumar Subramaniam, were evicted from their home in Puchong, Selangor, on June 29 for being unable to pay their rent.
The couple and their six-year-old son have been living in a car for the past 10 days.
Edward, a housewife, has not been able to find a job as she has to look after her hospitalised 56-year-old mother, who suffers from diabetes, kidney failure, and long-Covid symptoms.
Kumar lost his job as a mechanic after he found it difficult to work long hours following a motorcycle accident two years ago.
Edward has not been able to ask her extended family for help because of a fallout that has lasted for almost two decades.
The family has made an appeal for financial assistance, clothing, and support so they are able to send their young son to school.
To make a donation to help Grace Edward and her family, send a WhatsApp message to FMT’s Helpline at 019-3899839. Please do not call.
