
Siti Nuramira Abdullah was charged under Section 298A of the Penal Code with causing disharmony among the Muslim community during her performance at the Crackhouse Comedy Club in Taman Tun Dr Ismail on June 4.
If found guilty, she could be jailed for two to five years.
Siti Nuramira, 26 was arrested by Bukit Aman federal police last Sunday and had been remanded since then.
A 54-second video, which went viral on social media, showed a woman introducing herself as a Muslim.
She claimed to have memorised 15 chapters of the Quran, and then proceeded to discard her tudung and baju kurung, to reveal another set of clothes underneath.
Deputy public prosecutor Najihah Farhana Che Awang proposed bail of RM50,000 in one surety and urged the court to impose a gag order on Siti Nuramira.
Sessions court judge Siti Aminah Ghazali granted Siti Nuramira bail of RM20,000 bail in one surety and also warned her not to comment on the case.
She also ordered Siti Nuramira to report to the Brickfields police station once a month, and to surrender her passport to the court pending the disposal of her case.
“The accused cannot post anything about this case on social media,” Siti Aminah said.
Earlier, Siti Nuramira’s lawyer, R Sivaraj, had urged the court to grant her bail as he said she did not pose a flight risk.
“She had given her full cooperation to the police during their investigation,” he said.
Lawyer Shaharudin Ali also appeared for Siti Nuramira.
