According to a report in the Borneo Post, Jugah did not anticipate any problem with his application to join the Gabungan Parti Sarawak component party.
Saying he had applied to join PRS in February, the Lubok Antu MP added: “I am just waiting for the Supreme Council to announce it. The Sarawak premier has already given his blessing. It shouldn’t be a problem.”
Last month, Jugah turned down an invitation by Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) to join the party as he had already submitted his membership application to join PRS.
Jugah said he wanted to join PRS to defend his parliamentary seat in the next general election (GE15) as the party usually contested the Lubok Antu seat.
Jugah had won the seat as an independent candidate in GE14 with a 1,059-vote majority. He joined PKR in May 2018, but quit the party in June 2020 to become an independent MP.
