Four STAR divisions have requested to contest the seat on a Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) ticket in the next general election (GE15), Daily Express reported.
STAR vice-president Apas Nawawie Saking said the Silam, Segama, Tungku and Kunak divisions had the strength to win the seat, while the election machinery there was prepared for the elections.
Nawawie, who is also the Silam STAR chief, said a joint resolution would be handed over to party president Jeffrey Kitingan.
Mohamaddin, the former tourism minister, was previously with Warisan before he quit the party in October and joined Bersatu a month later. He is also the Segama assemblyman.
He had previously said he was ready to contest in GE15, though he did not elaborate if that meant he would be defending his Lahad Datu seat.
Bersatu and STAR are component parties in the GRS coalition, along with Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and United Sabah National Organisation (Usno).
