SENAI: Former menteri besar Sahruddin Jamal is now Johor Bersatu chairman, party president Muhyiddin Yassin confirmed today.
Muhyiddin said Sahruddin, who was Johor Bersatu’s secretary, received his letter of appointment as chairman on June 8.
Sahruddin, 47, who is the Bukit Kepong assemblyman, replaces Muhyiddin who has held the post since September 2020.
“He has taken over. It’s a good move. The state liaison committee now has a local personality,” said Muhyiddin. “I will assist him with advice and views but it’s good to place trust in younger leaders to lead the party.”
Muhyiddin said the appointment also proved that the leadership recognises the party’s rejuvenation process.
