He said a further 50% reduction would be given to children aged two to six, primary and middle school students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
“The government is committed to helping vulnerable groups such as the B40 community.
“Public transportation costs are a factor in contributing to the rising cost of living, which is why initiatives such as this are being implemented,” he said at a launch event.
Wee said the service would have 32 trips daily, up from 25 previously, with a frequency of 30 minutes to an hour between KL Sentral station, Subang Jaya station and the Skypark Terminal station at the Airport.
A one-way trip between KL Sentral station and Skypark Terminal station will take 37 minutes. The Skypark Link has been operating since May 2018.
Asked how much was being subsidised for the fare reduction, he said the government had no intention to recover capital expenditure from the reduction.
“This is not what we want to do. The 3,000 commuters expected will (itself) help boost revenue,” he said.
