PETALING JAYA:
The parliamentary select committee (PSC) drafting the anti-hopping bill has called for a special Dewan Rakyat sitting in July for the Act to be tabled.

Law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the PSC unanimously agreed to request for the special sitting in the first week of July.

“The PSC has finalised the draft bill to be tabled and debated in the Dewan Rakyat,” he said in a statement.

Wan Junaidi said the PSC has addressed five policy questions on the bill raised by the Cabinet at a meeting on June 1.

He said the PSC’s response would be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting.

In April, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the anti-hopping bill – a key part of the memorandum of understanding signed between Putrajaya and Pakatan Harapan – would be tabled in Parliament in July.
