Kelantan United FC says the player will not participate in training and matches throughout the leave period.

Kelantan United FC have confirmed that a player was involved in an investigation into a rape allegation.
PETALING JAYA:
Kelantan United FC said today that one of its players implicated in a rape case involving a young woman has been placed under leave for a period of time.

In a statement released today, the football club named the player as Fakhrul Zaman Wan Abdullah Zawawi.

Kelantan United chief executive officer Wan Mohd Zul Ikram said the player would not be joining any training and Liga Premier matches throughout the leave period.

Wan Mohd also said that the team will leave it to the authorities to carry out their investigations on the rape allegation, and would wait for the full report of the investigation.

He added that the football club will not condone any immoral acts committed by anyone in the club.

“However, Kelantan United FC still adhered to the concept of “innocent until proven guilty”, and once (the player is) found guilty, actions will be taken in accordance with the laws and terms agreed upon in the contract,” he said.

Bernama reported on May 31 that Kelantan police had arrested a footballer to assist in an investigation of the rape of an 18-year-old woman on May 29.

Acting state police chief Zaki Harun said that the 28-year-old footballer was arrested at Jalan Pantai Cahaya Bulan after the woman filed a police report.
