PETALING JAYA:
PKR’s election committee has dismissed claims by a former aide to Anwar Ibrahim that over 26,000 votes went missing at the party polls held last month.

Its chief Dr Zaliha Mustafa said not all 147,000 voters had cast their ballots to elect the central leadership. Many voters decided to vote for leaders at the divisional level only, she told FMT.

Last night, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak had questioned discrepancies in the PKR polls, claiming that some votes went “missing”, especially in the race for the deputy presidency.

He argued that Rafizi Ramli and Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the two contenders, had secured a total of 119,030 votes between them.

And this raised “questions as to the whereabouts of some 27,970 votes”, he said.

The former Perak PKR chief said it was “obvious” the figures across the country did not tally.
