She is sharing her good fortune by giving free food every day to 10 students who are facing difficulties.
Siti Aishah Othman, 32, who has been doing business in UTM for a month now, said that previously, she had been giving away the food discreetly.
Her generosity went viral on social media after a small note was seen posted at the stall, asking students who had no money not to go hungry and offering to “treat” them instead.
“Students, if you don’t have money, don’t go hungry. Come here, tell me, I will pay. I also used to be a student. Don’t be embarrassed,” wrote Aishah.
Moved by the sincerity of her gesture, social media users have been praying for her good fortune to grow.
Aishah told FMT that her only intention was to be charitable.
She said when her story went viral, there were other parties who donated money so that she could give more free food.
Aishah was able to identify students who did not have enough money to eat, as some only bought nasi lemak for RM1 every day.
“At times, some pay using coins. They don’t share their troubles,” she said.
“But I have also faced difficulties, so I can understand. If they could afford it, they would not eat the same thing, which is also the cheapest, every day.”
Aishah sells nasi lemak every Sunday to Thursday.
She said the cheapest nasi lemak at her stall was sold for RM1 and included egg, peanuts, anchovies, cucumber, and sambal.
She hopes to help more students facing difficulties in the future and to continue using the funds donated according to the wishes of the donors.
