KUALA LUMPUR:
A former director of the KL and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH) pleaded not guilty in the magistrates’ court today to a charge of sending a lewd video to a Tan Sri’s daughter.

Yeo Kwi Seng was accused of sending the video to “insult the modesty” of Wong Pei Huan between May 23 and June 16, 2021, at Imbi Plaza. Wong is the daughter of MCA veteran Wong Mook Leong.

If found guilty under Section 509 of the Penal Code, he faces a maximum five years’ jail sentence, a fine or both.

Magistrate Wong Chai Sia allowed Yeo bail of RM3,000 in one surety. The court set July 26 for next mention.

Lawyer Kitson Foong said Yeo’s sister-in-law would post bail. “The accused is an outstanding member of society and he does not pose a flight risk,” he said.

It was reported last year that Wong, a former lawyer, claimed she was sexually harassed by a Chinese association leader on her Facebook account.

She said she met the man during a funeral service in 2021 and they exchanged numbers.

Wong said the man initially contacted her to ask about legal matters but their subsequent conversations became “unusual”.

She said the man, through Apandi Ali’s law firm, also sent her a letter of demand, asking her to retract her police report against him.

Wong also claimed she was “being pressured” by several senior male members of MCA, other political parties and associations to get her to withdraw her police report and put the matter to rest.

Nom Phot Prackdit prosecuted the case today.
