KUALA LUMPUR:
The defamation lawsuit filed by former religious affairs minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa against Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki over the “sale” of Tabung Haji shares has been settled amicably out of court.

In a statement today, Mujahid said a consent judgment had been entered into before High Court judge Akhtar Tahir after Asyraf agreed to delete his Facebook post dated Sept 30, 2019.

Mujahid filed a suit against Asyraf in November 2019 over the latter’s Facebook post (Tabung Haji Jual RM 2.6b Ekuiti: YB Mujahid Harus Segera Beri Penjelasan).

The Umno leader claimed that Tabung Haji shares – held by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) – were sold during Mujahid’s term in office.

Mujahid said he was glad the case had been settled amicably. He hoped no one would in future link him to the sale of Tabung Haji shares.

Mujahid was represented by lawyers Noorazmir Zakaria and Atiqa Azmi while Wan Muhammad Hafiz Wan Zawawi and Aimi Shazwani Yaakob appeared for Asyraf.

It was previously reported that Mujahid’s legal team had issued a letter to Asyraf demanding that the latter retract his statement but Asyraf had said he would fight the lawsuit.
