Flash floods hit several areas in Seremban

SEREMBAN:
Several areas in Seremban have been hit by flash floods following heavy rain this evening.

Several main roads were also obstructed by uprooted trees.

State operations assistant director Zamhuri Zainnordin said Taman England in Sikamat, Taman Nyior, Garden Lake and Kampung Semarak were among the affected areas.

“Our operations centre has been receiving calls about fallen trees, storms and flash floods since this evening. We are still conducting search and rescue missions as well as clearing the trees.

“No loss of life has been reported so far and waters are beginning to recede. As at 10.30pm, we are still unable to ascertain the number of victims affected,” he told Bernama here tonight.

Meanwhile, state civil defence force director Syukri Md Nor said about 70 houses were affected by floods at Kampung Ismail in Ampangan, near here.

He said several other areas in the district were also hit and state civil defence personnel were conducting rescue operations.
