PETALING JAYA:
A former diplomat was arrested last week after allegedly planting and owning a cannabis farm with almost 100 trees at his home in Janda Baik, Pahang.

According to Harian Metro, the suspect is reported to have served in the Malaysian embassies in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

The case is considered to be the largest cannabis plant seizure in the country’s history as the majority of previous seizures only involved cannabis plants grown in pots.

The police found rows of cannabis trees planted around the house, containers of liquid believed to be cannabis oil, and dried cannabis leaves during the raid last Saturday.

Meanwhile, a Berita Harian report said the 78-year-old former diplomat was arrested at his home last Saturday and his 53-year-old son was arrested in Shah Alam yesterday.

Narcotics criminal investigation department (CID) director Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said police confiscated all the cannabis trees around the suspect’s house and are investigating how he procured the plants.
