
PETALING JAYA: About RM183.14 million worth of assets have been seized from drug syndicates by the narcotics criminal investigation department (CID) in the 15 months leading to March 31.
Assets worth RM162.98 million were seized last year, and RM20.16 million from Jan 1 to March 31, 2022, according to a report by Utusan Malaysia.
CID director Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the assets included cash, vehicles, homes and personal belongings.
He said the assets would be forfeited if it was proven that they were obtained through illegal means.
Ayob Khan also said the CID seized various types of drugs worth an estimated RM1.15 billion over the past 15 months.
A total of 171,125 arrests involving 143,549 cases were made during the period.
