PETALING JAYA:
Transport minister Wee Ka Siong has revealed that a comprehensive plan and guidelines for micromobility will be completed and unveiled soon.

Taking to Facebook, he was responding to former prime minister Najib Razak’s call on the government to facilitate the use of micromobility transportation instead of banning such devices.

“The government understands the important role that micromobility can play,” he said.

“A comprehensive plan, together with guidelines, spanning various ministries, agencies and local councils, is in the final stage of completion and will be unveiled shortly.”

Last month, Wee said that certain micromobility vehicles like mopeds and electric scooters were banned from being used on roads.

Wee said this ban had been gazetted under the Road Traffic Rules and had been in effect since Dec 17.
