
He said his office believed the political analyst is capable of carrying out his duties well.
“He (Kamarul) is an experienced person in terms of expertise in the field we need. I believe he can carry out his duties as a special officer in terms of policies.
“I also choose those who I think are qualified, but if other parties feel he is not eligible, it does not mean we have to follow what they say. We have made our own evaluation,” he told reporters here after attending an Umno event.
Kamarul is a senior lecturer at Universiti Utara Malaysia’s International Study Centre. His appointment as special officer to the prime minister was the subject of media focus this week. It was later revealed that he had been holding the post since December.
