She told FMT that her daughter is now afraid to go out after the suspect, who is said to be in his 30s, touched her daughter’s private parts inside the lift in an incident that took place yesterday.
The mother said she immediately lodged a report at the Pantai police station, following which the suspect was detained.
“But what happened after that does not make me feel safe. I was told that he was released after he produced his OKU card,” she said.
“The suspect shouldn’t be allowed to get off scot-free. I hope the authorities will take him away. My daughter fears going out as she is worried she may come across the suspect who lives in the same flat.”
Recalling the incident, she said her daughter was on her way home after purchasing an item at a sundry shop nearby.
“She was already in the lift when the suspect got in on the ground floor. When the lift stopped at the eighth floor, he touched my daughter’s private parts before walking out,” she said.
The mother said if it is true that the suspect holds an OKU card, he should be sent to a mental institution or put under surveillance. She added that her neighbours had also complained about similar incidents involving the suspect.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur crime investigation department chief Habibi Majinji said the police would rearrest the suspect as soon as possible.
“The police had recorded statements from the victim and the suspect. Based on the statements, the suspect has a mental problem.
“The police will take the suspect to Hospital Bahagia (psychiatric hospital) after we obtain the court order,” he said.
