Asean ministers agree to recognise vaccination certs

The decision will ensure smoother and safer cross-border travel, says a deputy health minister.

Asean health ministers have agreed on mutual recognition of Covid-19 vaccination certificates.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Asean health ministers have agreed on mutual recognition of Covid-19 vaccination certificates to ensure smooth and safe cross-border travel.

Deputy health minister II Aaron Ago Anak Dagang said the decision was reached at a special discussion session of Asean health ministers in Bali, Indonesia, yesterday.

Indonesia would take the initiative to lead the development of a Asean universal verification mechanism, he said.

Aaron said the voluntary system had potential to support Asean member countries that did not yet have a vaccination certificate verification system.
