PETALING JAYA:
A worker at a “nasi kandar” restaurant in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan, was fined RM1,500 by the Bahau magistrates’ court after he pleaded guilty to punching a customer last week.

According to the charge sheet, Isa Ramliee, 21, had injured a 30-year-old man at the Liga Maju Bahau restaurant at 1am on May 5.

The offence, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, is punishable with imprisonment for up to two years, a fine not exceeding RM2,000 or both if convicted.

In mitigation, Isa asked for a reduced sentence as he has to support his wife and two children.

Magistrate Hidayat Wahab ordered the accused to serve nine months in jail if the fine was not paid.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Loqman Hakim Ahmad Khairie prosecuted. Isa was not represented.

It was previously reported that the brawl was sparked by a complaint over the price of food at the nasi kandar restaurant.

The cashier had allegedly raised his voice at a woman who disputed the price. This caused her son to become angry and he threw a tissue box at the cashier.

A restaurant employee who witnessed the incident then punched the son, resulting in a free-for-all among workers and patrons.

A video of the incident went viral on social media.
