PETALING JAYA:
A police patrol car engaged in a 56km chase on the North-South Expressway after a Toyota Altis driven by a man believed to be drunk yesterday.

The chase took place from Pedas, Negeri Sembilan, until Tangkak, Johor, where the 24-year-old driver and his passenger, a 17-year-old boy, were arrested.

The driver had been driving aggressively on the southbound highway, said Rembau district police chief, Hazri Mohamad, according to Harian Metro.

“A breath test on the driver found that he had consumed excessive alcohol,” he said.

The car was seen overtaking several other vehicles and colliding with another car before being chased by the police from Km 223 to Km 169 on the southbound highway. Hazri said the occupants of the car were detained near the Tangkak exit.
